This will be the third year that we have run our Spotlight on Reading in January. It is a time to have an even bigger focus than normal on reading. The aim is to foster a love of reading for all of our children and help everyone to improve as a reader. Reading is such an important skill for learning and will be crucial to our children's futures as adults. It will also hopefully bring them much pleasure throughout their lives.
During the Spotlight on Reading we revisit our Core Canon and celebrate our special books. This year we will also be working with children to create a 100 book challenge for them to complete at primary school. We also have a poem of the week throughout the Spring Term.
Tina Ritson, our Reading Champion, is coordinating some reading volunteers for the weeks beginning 15th, 22nd and 29th January. If you would like to be involved as a reading volunteer please complete the form and indicate which dates you would be available on.
