15th June Update

 Dear Parents and Carers,

I hope that you’re all well! I thought I would provide a bit of an update about developments at school. I would love to give you more information about what the arrangements in September will be – but we just don’t know yet! We are in touch with everyone via different routes and appreciate the support you have given us over the last few months.

We have now experienced a week of provision for Y6 children. There was a considerable amount of planning and organisation that went into setting up the classrooms and other spaces around school. Last week went extremely smoothly with the 35 children from Y6 that came in. It was great to see the children and they coped fantastically with the many changes of expectation and regulations that are in place even during breaks and lunch time.

We are now looking at expanding this provision to Y1 from next week and need to gather information from parents about what they would like to do. We have learned from having Y6s in school that the days are much more intense as children have to sit at individual desks whenever they are in class – which includes when they eat their lunch. We don’t feel that it is fair or realistic to expect Y1 children to manage this for a whole day so they will have provision that ends after they have eaten their lunch.

If you have children in Y1 please follow this LINK for further information and to complete the Y1 FORM.

As our ‘bubbles’ are small due to classroom size this is having an impact on our staffing and accommodation capacity (especially toilets). We may have to alternate provision for Y1 if demand is high so we will need all forms back by Wednesday at 3pm this week to organise the provision. Teachers’ capacity to set and respond to home learning will also be reduced as they are required to teach children in school.

The  key worker registration can be found on our website and must be completed before children are allocated a place. DO NOT just send children into school as we must know who is coming and that we have capacity for them.

We are excited that work is starting on our new play structure this week – so that is something to look forward to in the future. I will write more in the coming weeks about other plans for September and some work we are having done around school. Reception and Y3 parents and carers will also be contacted about arrangements for new classes next term.

Yours sincerely

Miles Wallis-Clarke
