Parent/Carer Workshops
Earlier this year, we invited parents and carers to tell us which workshop topics would be most helpful to them. Thank you to everyone who contributed their ideas – we’ve been able to shape our programme around the topics that matter most to you.
Our first workshops will take place on Wednesday 8th October, with two sessions available:
-
9.15am
-
2.15pm
The focus of this workshop will be Emotional Regulation.
We’d love to see as many of you there as possible. Please complete the form below to let us know which session you’d like to attend. This will help us reserve the most suitable space in school.
What is Emotional Regulation?
Emotional regulation is the ability to manage our emotions. It is also known as self-regulation.
We all experience many different emotions—such as happiness, sadness, or anger—but sometimes our emotions can become overwhelming and difficult to manage. Emotional regulation is a skill, and importantly, it’s a skill we can all learn.
When supporting children to regulate their emotions, it’s important to be aware of your own emotions, your reactions, and how these may influence your child’s feelings. This process is often referred to as co-regulation. Younger children, in particular, will need significant support from adults to regulate their emotions, and this can also be true for older children, especially during times of stress or crisis.
Who is leading the workshop?
The sessions will be delivered by Annabelle Gooseman from RISE, alongside our own Steve Crosthwaite, who will share how and when we use some of these strategies in school.
