Singing Assembly Week 9

This week we have a packed assembly including a special treat for our trumpet players.

  • First, to warm up, Rob Kitchen is clearly getting ready to take on the dragon of Effrenous and teaches us a great marching chant.
  • A Change Is Gonna' Come - a really good challenge for everyone to sing and we have local Othane resident: (who can often be heard singing in Blue Sun Overlay) Phil Davids of the Good Times Collective to help us. On the double bass is Luke Elgie of local bands Shields, Penguin and Lyras.
  • Nigel Kirkpatrick (Baghdaddies and Hotspur trumpet teacher) is here with a tutorial so you can play along with one of the songs
  • Lullaboogaloo featuring local musicians Claire Tustin and Jeremy Bradfield (also a resident in Othane) bring us 'To the People Who Help Us' - a lovely song to say thank you. Check out the Lullaboogaloo Youtube channel for lots more great songs.
  • The SingUp song of the week this week is Beccy Owen (yet other musician local to Pons Aelius) teaches us a fantastic version of Bare Necessities. Follow this link to access the words and the performance track: SingUp song of the week
  • Butterfly - a song we have sung often at Hotspur including at the City Hall taught by a friend of Mr Wallis-Clarke's - Elizabeth Woods. The song was written by Elizabeth's Dad Alan Simmons - who also wrote Lost In Space.
  • Music Partnership North are going 'Around the World' and have a great arrangement of Bob Marley's Three Little Birds with parts and rhythms for you to get stuck into. Follow the link here: Around the World Week
