The Covid-19 pandemic has put huge additional pressures on family life, particularly some of the financial implications that lockdown restrictions have created; changes to working arrangements, redundancy and additional time with children at home.
We have created the Family Fund to assist families who need a helping hand when it matters the most. Supported by the fundraising activities of Friends of Hotspur, there are a number of ways in which we may be able to help:
- School Lunches – many of our families qualify for the Government-backed Free School Meal voucher scheme. We recognise, however, that a significant number of our families that do not qualify for this support will be finding things difficult too. The Family Fund can offer weekly supermarket vouchers (£15 per child, per week) to replicate the Government scheme.
- Small Grants – The Family Fund can offer grants up to £100 to help people purchase individual items that can make a huge difference to family life. This could include supermarket vouchers, a contribution towards a household appliance, beds, bedding, clothing and baby equipment. We cannot offer grants towards existing financial commitments- loan repayments, rent, household bills and unspecified costs. We are also unable to fund computer equipment – which can be loaned from school
How to apply
We have currently paused Family Fund Applications until we can raise funds again in the New Year. Over the past 12 months we have been able to award over £1000 in grants to families who have needed it the most!
We can only accept applications from families whose children attend Hotspur Primary School. Applications will be dealt with confidentially, by our Pastoral Team.
Please apply online using the expression of interest form below. Applications must be submitted by 4pm on a Friday to be considered for assessment the following week. A member of our Pastoral Team will be in touch to talk through your request further.
It is your responsibility to ensure that the grant is spent appropriately and receipts for all purchases provided to us upon request.
If an application is successful, we are only able to accept another application from that family/individual after 6 months.
