Vision for Sport & PE: Active Pupils, Confident Teachers Competitive Opportunities

Welcome to our PE and Sport curriculum page, here you will find out about the range of physical activities and sporting opportunities we offer at Hotspur. We aim to strike a balance between competitive and non-competitive opportunities so not only will our children have a chance to represent our school in sporting events against different schools, they will also learn about what it is to lead a healthy and active lifestyle and take part in non competitive physical events.

All our children will experience gymnastics, dance, swimming, outdoor adventurous activities and range of net and wall and invasion games as they move through the curriculum. Outside the curricular we offer a range of sporting clubs and have links to clubs outside of school as well as working closely with Schools Sports Partnership and the Ouseburn Learning Trust to ensure there are a wide range of sporting events for our children to take part.

During Year 5 some of our children will train to become Sports Leaders in Year 6. This involves running lunchtime clubs for KS1, looking after play equipment used at playtime and supporting the teachers in any internal sporting events.
