Virtual Singing Assembly - Week 5

Children's Mental Health Week 2021

Welcome to this week's singing assembly.

It is Children's Mental Health Week and the focus today is on using music as a way to express ourselves.

At Hotspur, music is a common vehicle we use.

We know lots of you have your own ways to do this. Today we're offering some ideas to help but we'd love to hear of how you are already using music at home.

  • Good to Be Me (Gaunt/Needham/Barber) - Mr Johnston, Mrs McCormick and some of our children lead a Hotspur favourite. There is also a cheese grater instrumental tutorial (you must ask for support from your adults before trying this)

  • Claire Tustin shares some great ways to use items you'll have lying around.

  • Another local musician, Sharon Durant, is leading one of my favourites: Bungalow - a great song for self-expression.

  • Eleanor has a wonderful tune you can use your new-found household instruments to play along with - 'We All Like to Play Along in Here'.

  • We're sharing one of Rob's classic lessons, using kitchen utensils to express yourself through improvisation. The Küchespiel.
